Bollywood cauliflower and rice

The goblins are not very well (this year we managed to catch all the possible viruses kindly offered by the nursery school..) and I didn’t have much left in the fridge yesterday, just a medium cauliflower and some apples. Since I couldn’t go to our local supermarket, I plugged my slow cooker and made something spicy for dinner…

Ingredients:
1 medium cauliflower
50 g dried green peas
40 g whole grain brown rice
1 red onion
2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of garam masala
1 teaspoon of tumeric powder
1 teaspoon of paprika
salt

Cut off most of the cauliflower’s stem and place the whole head in your slow cooker together with 50 ml of water. Add  the rice, peas and on top of all the minced onion and garlic.
Heat two tablespoons of oil in a frying pan together with the garam masala, tumeric powder and paprika for 2 minutes and then pour it over the minced onion and garlic. Cook over high heat for 3 hours, taste and add some salt (and water if needed) and switch to low for 1 more hour.

What about the apples?
…:) I put them in my beloved juicer with one lime and enjoyed them as dessert! 😉
