Chocolate & Vanilla Bread

While reading the Vegan Richa blog a few days ago, I found a very nice idea for a bread, I got inspired from this recipe “Mocha Chocolate Swirl in Vanilla Wheat Bread” and adapted it to my taste.

Here’s the result:

And here’s the recipe! Thanks to Vegan Richa for the idea and her great blog!
INGREDIENTS:
Vanilla dough:
225 g organic white flour
1 spoon of margarine
150 g vegetable milk (guess what? I used almond milk..!)
1 pinch of salt
2 tsp pure vanilla essence
2 tbsp sugar (organic, unrefined)
25 g fresh yeast

Chocolate dough:
225 g organic white flour
1 spoon of margarine
150 g vegetable milk
1 pinch of salt
3 tbsp sugar (organic, unrefined)
3 tbsp cacao (organic)
25 g fresh yeast
Maple syrup

In 2 medium bowls, add vegetable milk and yeast. Mix and let sit for 10 minutes.
Add the flour, vanilla essence, salt, sugar, melt margarine to one bowl.
Add the flour, cacao, salt, sugar, melt margarine to the other one.
For each one of them: Mix well and knead for a few minutes, you might need a bit more flour for the vanilla dough. The result (for both) should be smooth and not sticky.
Cover both bowls and let rise for 1h30.
Roll out the 2 dough into 2 rectangles, place one above the other. Roll them up and place your dough in a bread pan.
Cover and let rise for 1 more hour.
Brush with water and maple syrup and sprinkle with oat flakes.
Put your bread in an already warm oven (170°C) for more or less 40 minutes or till it’s golden brown.

This bread is not sweet, according to your taste you should maybe add more sugar.

The result is nice and soft, I ate a few slices and I’m sure it can be delicious with some maple syrup on it or toasted with some margarine and apricot jam!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    • I shouldn’t say it … but it is! 😉 (I loved it and the kids too! The only one who would appreciated it to be just a bit sweeter is my Viking).
