It’s very easy to make but it does take a bit of patience: you need to wait for the alcohol to extract the flavour from the vanilla beans. But trust me the delicious results are worth the waiting….
Place the vanilla beans in the bottle of vodka and seal. Store in a cool, dark place for at least 3 weeks, shaking the bottle every 2/3 days. After using, replace with more vodka. The same beans will continue to flavour the vanilla for up to a year.
I forgot to add one thing: Vodka has the most neutral flavour, but you can also use rum, bourbon or even brandy and create very unique extracts!
